See Cape Town Stadium for yourself
06/08/2010
If you were in Cape Town during the World Cup,
you could be forgiven for thinking that the Cape Town Stadium –
rather the football itself – was the main event. Graceful,
elegant and avant-garde, the stadium is everything FIFA and Capetonians
expected it to be.
Curious residents and visitors who missed out on the opportunity
to go to a game, can now see this iconic landmark in all its glory
thanks to the newly re-opened visitors’ centre. The centre
closed its doors to the public during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Interesting, hour-long walking tours, run by the stadium operators,
SAIL STADEFRANCE, started on 3 August, and will continue every Tuesday,
Thursday and Saturday, at 10:00, 12:00 noon and 2:00. Wednesdays
are reserved for school tours.
The tour takes visitors through the vast thoroughfares and multi-levels
of this brand-new stadium and of course, a visit to the hallowed
turf itself.
Tours cost R60 per adult and R30 for children under the age of
12, and pensioners.
